Job Title:Solar Development Engineer

Location:St. Louis, MO

Travel:~20%, including quarterly company meetings

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Solar Development Engineer to support the rapid growth of our solar projects. This role focuses on early-stage project development, including single line diagrams, zoning site plans, and electrical outputs. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from 2-250MW, providing expertise in utility infrastructure, land evaluation, and transmission. As part of a nimble and collaborative team, you will play a critical role in securing interconnections and optimizing project effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop single line diagrams, zoning site plans, and initial project designs, focusing on early development rather than final construction.

  • Interface with utilities to secure procurement, perform impact studies, and coordinate interconnections.

  • Evaluate land, transmission capabilities, and grid requirements to predict necessary infrastructure and project outputs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on utility-related challenges, especially regarding large-scale solar development and transmission projects.

  • Apply value engineering principles to streamline project execution and reduce reliance on outside consultants.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (required).

3+ years of experience in solar or electrical engineering, with a background in utility infrastructure and interconnections.

Familiarity with utility companies, and the ability to communicate effectively in utility language for value engineering and impact studies.

Proficient in creating single line diagrams and zoning plans; experience with solar development at various MW scales is a plus.

Ability to work independently, meet high expectations, and collaborate within a flat, self-sufficient team structure.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with 30-250MW solar projects and utility-scale transmission projects.

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to balance self-sufficiency and teamwork.

  • Previous work within a fast-paced, lean environment with a focus on community solar or other renewable energy initiatives.
