As a PV Design Engineer, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of solar and energy storage projects. Your expertise will guide system design, energy modeling, and technical evaluations to maximize efficiency and performance. You’ll collaborate with estimating, preconstruction, and engineering teams to create seamless design packages and ensure project success from initial concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solar & BESS System Design:

    Develop and optimize PV and battery storage layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and system architectures.

  • Energy Modeling & Analysis:

    Conduct finance-grade solar resource assessments using industry-leading tools like PVSyst.

  • Site Evaluation & Feasibility:

    Define buildable areas, analyze constraints, and recommend optimal design solutions.

  • Technology Selection:

    Evaluate and specify key components such as modules, inverters, racking systems, and battery storage solutions.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    Work closely with business development, estimating, procurement, and construction teams to ensure design accuracy and alignment with project goals.

  • Technical Documentation & QA/QC:

    Review engineering packages, conduct design validation, and support field teams during installation and commissioning.

  • Industry Standards & Compliance:

    Ensure all designs meet local regulations, utility requirements, and industry best practices.

  • Proposal & Contract Support:

    Assist in reviewing power purchase agreements (PPAs), interconnection agreements, and service contracts.

What You Bring

  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited preferred).

  • Experience:

    3-5 years of hands-on experience in solar PV design, with a strong preference for utility-scale projects.

  • Technical Proficiency:

    Expertise in PV design software (PVSyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope), electrical design tools, and MS Office Suite.

  • Analytical Skills:

    Strong problem-solving ability, data-driven mindset, and attention to detail in evaluating system performance and efficiency.

  • Project Management Knowledge:

    Understanding of engineering principles, budget constraints, and construction best practices.

  • Communication & Collaboration:

    Ability to convey technical concepts clearly to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Adaptability & Initiative:

    Self-motivated, able to multitask, and thrive in a fast-moving industry.
