MV Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medium Voltage (MV) Engineer to join our dynamic team. This individual will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering high-quality electrical systems for utility-scale and distributed generation (DG) solar projects. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of MV electrical systems, including reclosers and SEL relays, and a proven ability to manage the entire design lifecycle from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development of complete MV electrical design packages (0%-100%) for utility-scale and DG solar projects.
Develop electrical layouts, including single-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, and detailed drawings.
Specify and integrate reclosers, SEL relays, and other critical protection and control equipment.
Conduct load flow, short circuit, and coordination studies to ensure system reliability and compliance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including civil and mechanical engineers, project managers, and contractors, to ensure seamless project execution.
Oversee and mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and support.
Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and client specifications.
Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
Certification:
Professional Engineer (PE) certification nice to have or be at least 2 years away from obtaining an PE certification

Experience:

Minimum 5-7 years of experience with utility-scale or DG solar projects.
Expertise in designing MV electrical systems, including protection and control equipment like reclosers and SEL relays.
Demonstrated ability to deliver complete design packages from 0% to 100%.

Skills:

Proficient in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM, or similar).
Strong understanding of industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, NESC).
Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on innovative solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and client interaction.

Preferred Attributes:

Experience working on interconnection applications and processes with utility companies.
Familiarity with renewable energy project development and lifecycle.
