With a background in custom electronics and a strong foothold in commercial & industrial (C&I) solar projects, they’re expanding their in-house engineering team to meet rising demand. Backed by a lean but mighty business development and construction crew (including a Master Electrician and mobile install teams), they’re working on projects ranging from 100 kW to 1 MW—with eyes on utility-scale and international microgrid solutions.

About the Role
As aSolar C&I Design Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of high-impact solar EPC projects. You’ll design, optimize, and support the execution of commercial solar systems across rooftops, carports, and small utility installations. Working closely with the Director of Construction, sales engineers, and project developers, you’ll help bridge the gap between technical design and field execution.

Key Responsibilities
Lead design and engineering of commercial solar PV systems (100 kW – 1 MW+)
Develop layout and single-line diagrams using
AutoCAD
Perform system modeling and generation forecasts using
Helioscope
and/or
PVSyst
Conduct NEC-compliant designs, equipment selections, and code reviews
Collaborate with internal teams to support proposal development and client deliverables
Support construction teams with technical documentation and permitting
Assist in refining internal processes for design standardization and automation
Occasionally travel to site locations (once/month on average)
Must-Have Qualifications
Proficiency in
AutoCAD
and
Microsoft Excel
Solid understanding of
NEC Code
and solar industry best practices
Experience in C&I solar design—PV system layouts, string sizing, BOS, etc.
Knowledge of
Helioscope
or
PVSyst
preferred
Strong communication skills and collaborative spirit
Nice-to-Haves
Previous experience with EPC workflows or Owners Rep roles
Familiarity with battery storage and/or microgrids
Entrepreneurial drive or interest in start-up/employee-owned environments
