Civil Design Engineer

Job Description:A dynamic and growing renewable energy company is seeking a motivated Civil Design Engineer to join its experienced and knowledgeable team. This role involves overseeing all civil-related aspects of solar project design and engineering, from conceptualization to final project completion. The Civil Design Engineer will manage both internal and external engineering resources to develop efficient and practical PV system designs while ensuring seamless communication with construction teams, customers, and senior management.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing grading models, staking plans, and landscaping plans that adhere to industry standards, value engineering principles, and customer specifications. Strong project management, technical expertise, and communication skills will be critical to delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

Design PV systems and produce construction-quality drawings, including physical layouts, civil designs, and installation details.

Utilize Civil 3D software to develop functional and efficient grading models for PV systems.

Develop staking plans for surveyors to mark key civil and electrical layout features, ensuring accurate communication with on-site installers.

Conduct on-site evaluations of civil work to assess progress, quality, and adherence to design specifications.

Prepare tree clearing and grubbing plans for efficient site preparation.

Review third-party civil engineering documents for accuracy and compliance with project requirements.

Create and enhance optimization tools to support system design improvements.

Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure smooth project execution.

Stay up to date with industry best practices, regulations, and advancements in civil engineering technology.

Oversee the iterative design lifecycle, optimizing PV system designs to maximize customer value while maintaining high-quality standards.

Qualifications:

Educational background or industry experience in civil or mechanical engineering.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred; CAD expertise required.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Interest in sustainability and solar energy.

Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Proven experience with multi-disciplinary engineering.
