We are seeking a skilledSolar Electrical Design Engineerto join our client's dynamic team in the Atlanta Metropolitan Area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in solar energy design (preferred, but not required), with expertise in creating construction-grade drawings and optimizing PV systems for utility-scale solar projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge solar projects with a collaborative team of engineers, EORs, and consultants, ensuring the successful execution of renewable energy systems.

Job Responsibilities Include:

Design Engineering:

  • Develop construction-quality drawings, including physical layouts, electrical designs, and installation details for utility-scale PV systems.

  • Utilize

    AutoCAD,

    Civil 3D,and

    Helioscope

    to produce energy models, construction plans, and other engineering deliverables.

Project Optimization:

  • Create and refine optimization tools to enhance system design.

  • Perform PV production modeling, optimizing energy production based on shading, site topography, and layout.

Material Selection & Procurement:

  • Collaborate with procurement teams to select and acquire major equipment and materials.

Field Engagement:

  • Travel to project sites (approximately 10% travel) to engage with construction teams, support installation, and address on-site challenges.

Regulatory Compliance & Communication:

  • Stay updated with industry codes and standards to ensure compliance.

  • Communicate design details with customers, AHJs, and stakeholders. Prepare and coordinate submittals and RFIs.

Environmental Considerations:

  • Review environmental studies (e.g., geotechnical reports, wetlands, and wildlife studies) and integrate site-specific requirements into designs.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in

    AutoCAD

    (Civil 3D experience strongly preferred) and

    Helioscope.

  • Experience creating construction-grade drawings.

  • Knowledge of

    utility-scale solar PV design

    (preferred but not required).

  • Strong skills in

    Microsoft Excel

    and other relevant software tools.

  • Educational background or industry experience in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering.

  • Demonstrated experience with multi-disciplinary engineering projects.

  • High level of attention to detail, strong time management, and excellent organizational skills.

  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
